I am committed to serving the citizens of Durham with an exceptional level of integrity and sound judgment. With over 35 years of professional experience, I bring a unique combination of administrative leadership, legal expertise, and a passion for helping those navigate the complexities of our justice system

Meet A. Beverly Ellis-Maclin

From Humble Beginnings to Community Leader Born and raised in Gary, Indiana, I was one of six children raised by a single mother who instilled in me deep goals and aspirations. I have called Durham County home since 2007.

A Dedication to Lifelong Learning My path was that of a non-traditional student; I pursued my education while married and raising my children, remaining tremendously focused on improving my life through learning. This journey led me to earn:

Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management from Bethel University.
Bachelor’s and Associate Degrees from Indiana University.
Certificate in Paralegal Studies (Business Law) from Durham Technical Community College, where I graduated summa cum laude.

Professional Excellence

My 35-year career spans corporate leadership at IBM, Time Warner Cable (now Charter Communications), and Adwerx, Inc.. I have served as a Customer Care Lead, educating and mentoring teams to reach their full potential. This background in corporate administration, combined with my experience in the public school system, and 25-years as a paralegal uniquely qualifies me to lead the Clerk’s office with efficiency and empathy.
